Ser brasileiro é...
I was seven months into maternity leave when reality struck me: it would be impossible for my little one to experience Brazilian culture and traditions at its fullest unless we moved there, and relocating to Brazil would likely never happen as it would be unreal for my family to visit the country where I was born and raised at every occasion, every year. So I thought a book would be a great way to show to my Canadian child what being Brazilian means, from early years, before the cultural gap became... well, a gap. And one impossible to bridge.
In a snowy night of 2020, the words came to me while I put my baby to sleep. I immediately sent the text to fellow Brazilian-Canadian moms for review and started looking for an illustrator who could portray our diversity. Friends and family back home financed the Montessori-aligned illustrations and editing for this book, my first published work. Today, children around the world can learn about Brazilian's cultural heritage and traditions.
